Ana Rod

A Coruña, España - 1982

Ana Rod (A Coruña, 1982) works with matter and objecthood, mastering ceramics, where the visual and the tactile are a premise, and the observation of nature and the study of biology remain a constant.

Her works allude to a state prior to the material’s concretization, where possibilities are infinite and Nature reinvents itself.

By combining acrylic and ceramics with copper and cement structures, Ana Rod creates a universe that appears gentle, pleasant, and “cute”—highly alluring and intoxicating—yet conceals a certain formal rebellion and very few inhibitions. Approaching her works often involves a sense of bewilderment; they engage the senses beyond logical understanding.

To deconstruct figurative language as we know it, Ana Rod prioritizes elements such as color, rhythm, and texture, placing emotional and sensory aspects at the forefront of her work while simultaneously imbuing it with exquisite technique and quality.
