Juana García-Pozuelo (Logroño, 1978) is a visual artist who has lived in Bilbao since 1996. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country and has complemented her training with a Master’s degree in Art Creation and Research from the same university. Throughout her career, she has furthered her studies at international institutions such as the School of Visual Arts in New York and the Summer School of Fine Art in Salzburg.
Since the beginning of her career in 2001, she has developed a figurative pictorial style on various conceptual themes. Her work has been exhibited in twelve solo shows at various galleries and institutions throughout Spain. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions since 2001.
In recent years, his work has been linked to the Artoteka project, facilitating the loan of his work to different institutions and individuals since 2020. In 2024, her artistic work was recognised with her selection for the Eusko Jaurlaritza grant programme for the promotion and development of activities in the field of plastic and visual arts.
Throughout her career, she has been the recipient of several grants and residency programmes that have contributed to the development of her work. In 2019, she received a grant from the Institut Français, with the support of the Bilbaoarte Foundation, to undertake a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. In 2023, she was selected for the Nautilus artist residency in Lanzarote, and in 2012 she was awarded a grant from the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. She has also been a resident twice at the Bilbaoarte Foundation and, in 2008, she enjoyed a residency at the Snug Harbor Cultural Centre in Staten Island, New York. Her work has also been recognised with two acquisition awards at the La Rioja Parliament Painting Competition.
During March 2025, she is immersed in the production of new works for her upcoming exhibitions, and developing her project at Le Jardin des Métiers d’Art et du Design (JAD), (Sèvres, Île-de-France) thanks to an exchange and support programme for the visual arts between the Hauts-de-Seine department and Bilbaoarte.
