A celebration of culture, territory and contemporary art.

Celebrating twenty years as a contemporary art gallery in a city like Gijón is not just a personal or business goal: it is a reason for collective celebration. It means confirming that it is possible to develop an independent and sustainable cultural project outside the big art centres, and to do so with a commitment to the territory and the citizens.

Two decades of trajectory give perspective. What began as a personal commitment has become an active agent within the Asturian cultural ecosystem, participating in fairs, weaving professional networks and collaborations with public and private institutions. From here, we have learned that galleries are not only spaces where works are exhibited: they are places of encounter, mediation and construction of critical sense. They are spaces that connect talent with global projection.

Gijón, with its industrial history and its identity open to the sea, offers a fertile environment for contemporary culture. Sometimes it is harder to break through from the periphery, but it also works with more authenticity. Creating and sustaining a gallery here has been a constant exercise in adaptation, but also a way of demonstrating that art can play a transformative role in medium-sized cities if it is given the space and value it needs.

Ours has not been an individual journey. During these years we have created a vibrant network of artists, collectors, institutions, companies, critics, curators and media that have contributed to the continued growth of this project. We have also seen how the cultural sector in Asturias has been gaining maturity, professionalism and visibility.

This anniversary is, therefore, an opportunity to send a message to those who are thinking of starting a business in the field of culture: yes, it is possible. It is possible to create, manage and grow projects from Gijón, with ambition, with roots and with a vocation for the future. Culture not only enriches, it also builds the city, creates jobs and generates identity. There is no development without imagination.

Twenty years later, we still believe in art as an engine of transformation and Asturias as a place from which to continue building. A place to which I am deeply grateful for having recognised and supported our project throughout our trajectory, with awards such as the AFAS Self-Employed Woman of the Year 2016, the Gijón Impulsa in the category of Woman Entrepreneur 2020 and the CEAT Award for Self-Employed Woman Entrepreneur of the Year 2024.
